DFW Connector TEXpress Lanes to open early 2014

The first TEXpress Lanes on LBJ Express opened on Dec. 14. Now, other lanes on the DFW Connector are nearing completion.

“The TEXpress lanes on the DFW Connector are expected to open in early 2014,” said Lisa Walz, a TxDOT spokeswoman. “An exact date has not been determined.”

For a two-axle, single occupancy vehicle with a valid tag, the price for tolls on the DFW Connector will range from $1 during peak periods to $.67 during non-peak periods. With these tolls, drivers are guaranteed traffic speeds of at least 50 mph when using the tolled lanes.

The new TEXpress managed toll lanes allow drivers to travel seamlessly between Irving and Southlake without mixing with other traffic. The DFW Connector project represents the first public-private highway project to open in North Texas. Other roadwork involving TEXpress Lanes includes the LBJ Express and the North Tarrant Express. Toll prices will change based on traffic demand.
